Atlas Explorer

Explorer: how do I search customs trade data?

Atlas Explorer is the search tool for CargoFax customs records, built so anyone on your team can find shipments quickly. Start with a product, an HS code, a company, or a market, and narrow from there: filters combine, so one search can ask for one product, from one origin, into one port, over one period. Save any search and return to it later; a saved search picks up new records as each market updates. Explorer also maps the trade routes of any search and turns it into a report or pivot table by company, origin, destination, port, product, or month.

Atlas Explorer search filters
FilterWhat it does
HS codeSearch by Harmonized System chapter, heading, or subheading. US bill of lading records carry an HS code that CargoFax assigns from the cargo description.
Product descriptionSearch the description as declared, for products that do not map cleanly to one HS code.
CompanySearch importers, exporters, shippers, and consignees where the market's records carry names. Company names are cleaned and matched.
Country and portOrigin or destination country, and ports of lading, unlading, or entry where the records carry them.
Date rangeAny period from the start of each market's history to the latest update.

Atlas Vault

Vault: how do I work with the records I follow?

Atlas Vault is more than a place to save data. It is your data workspace in Atlas, where you customize your trade records, analyze them with pivot tables, and create AI-powered reports you can reuse. Everything in Vault updates as each market adds new records, and you can download anything you keep, in every market.

01

Your data, your way

Vault is your data workspace. Edit and organize records, choose the columns you need, and tailor the working view to the question in front of you. It has the flexibility of working in Excel, built around CargoFax trade data instead of a fixed view. New records are highlighted when they arrive, so you see at a glance what changed since your last visit.

02

AI-powered reports

Use AI to create reports tailored to your questions: investigate a company, a commodity, a market, or a trend, and turn trade data into insights without building every report by hand. Save a report, return to it whenever you need it, and turn on email updates to hear when relevant data changes. Create a report once and reuse it as the data changes.

03

Pivot tables

Summarize, reorganize, and compare trade data across dimensions to uncover patterns. Put origin countries, commodities, or shipping lines in the rows, months in the columns, and shipments or weight in the values, then filter to the slice you need. Compare companies, commodities, markets, and other fields side by side, and build views that answer your specific questions. Saved pivot tables update with the data.

Atlas Docs

Docs: can I keep my shipment documents with the records?

Yes. Atlas Docs lets you upload your own documents, for example commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin or quality, and attach each one to a bill of lading or customs record. The document then opens from the record in Explorer and from saved shipments in Vault, next to the record's HS code, partner, and date. CargoFax does not supply the documents: the files in Docs are the ones your team uploads.

Atlas Contacts

Contacts: how do I keep track of the companies I find?

Atlas Contacts turns the companies you discover in the trade data into your own organized company "black book". Find importers, exporters, and partners through Explorer and the records, then save them to Contacts and tag them the way your team works.

  • Discover: find companies through Explorer searches and the trade records behind them.
  • Save and tag: keep the companies that matter and label them as prospects, competitors, suppliers, or any tag you choose.
  • Light enrichment: see basic company details, such as a website or LinkedIn page, where available.
  • Export: download company lists for further enrichment or for your CRM and sales workflows.

Atlas Track

Track: where is my shipment?

Atlas Track follows bills of lading (B/Ls) and container numbers across multiple shipping lines in one place. Add a B/L or container number and Track shows its latest status from the carrier, so your team does not have to visit each carrier's website. CargoFax consolidates tracking across supported carriers, and Track alerts you when a new tracking update is available.

Atlas AI

AI: can I ask trade data questions in plain English?

Yes. Atlas AI answers plain-English questions over the full dataset of each market in your plan or over the shipments you keep in Vault, and shows the records behind every answer so each figure can be checked. Atlas AI answers from the fields each market carries: declared values in the Latin American markets, and bills of lading, vessels, containers, and gross weight in Haiti and the United States.

  • "Which companies imported HS 1006 rice into Haiti in the last 12 months?"
  • "Which countries supplied the most HS 8708 vehicle parts to Mexico last quarter?"
  • "Which of the companies in my Vault had a shipment this week?"

In practice

How do teams use Atlas?

A distributor in Haiti follows the competition

Find every importer of cement (HS 2523) into Cap-Haitien this quarter in Explorer, save the search, and keep the importers in Vault with email updates on for the three largest. A Vault pivot table shows each competitor's suppliers over time, and the weekly Haiti update keeps the list current.

An exporter finds buyers in the United States and Mexico

Search HS 8708 vehicle parts in US bills of lading and Mexico declarations, rank the importers, and check each one's current suppliers in Explorer. Save the best prospects to Contacts with tags, export the list to your CRM, or keep the search in Vault as a buyer list that updates itself.

A bank checks a client's trade history

Open the client's records in the Dominican Republic, attach the documents the client provided in Docs, and compare the declared values with the rest of the market in an Explorer pivot table.

FAQ

Atlas: frequently asked questions

What is CargoFax Atlas?

Atlas is the CargoFax trade data platform for exploring customs records from eight markets in a web browser, with six modules: Explorer, Vault, Docs, Contacts, Track, and AI.

Which markets does Atlas cover?

Atlas covers the United States, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Colombia, Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru. Every module works in every market in your plan.

Can I search Atlas by HS code?

Yes. Atlas Explorer searches by HS chapter, heading, and subheading in every market, and also by product description, company, country, port, and date range.

Do saved searches and reports in Atlas update automatically?

Yes. Searches, records, reports, and pivot tables saved in Atlas Vault add new records as each market updates: daily for US imports, weekly for Haiti and Peru, and monthly for the other markets. Email updates tell you when new data arrives.

Can I download records from Atlas?

Yes. Atlas plans include unlimited searches and downloads in every market, Haiti included.

When does an Atlas Track alert fire?

An Atlas Track alert fires when a supported carrier posts a new tracking update for a bill of lading or container number you follow in Track. Updates on new records for companies, products, or saved searches come from Atlas Vault email updates.

Can I export company lists from Atlas Contacts?

Yes. Atlas Contacts lets you save and tag the companies you find in Explorer and export the list for further enrichment or for your CRM. Basic enrichment, such as a website or LinkedIn page, appears where available.

Does Atlas Docs supply customs documents?

No. Atlas Docs stores the documents your team uploads, such as invoices, packing lists, and certificates, and attaches each one to a bill of lading or customs record.

What is the difference between Atlas and Files?

Atlas is the CargoFax platform you use in a web browser. CargoFax Files delivers the same records in bulk by FTP or API, for teams that load the data into their own systems.

How is Atlas priced?

Atlas plans are monthly or annual and priced by markets and data access. Book a demo or see the CargoFax pricing page for a quote. Subscribers log in at dock.cargofax.co.
